Finally, a Sex Scandal I Can Get Behind

I'm writing about this a full week (or more) late, but hey, you don't come read Opinionated Junk for the news.…Go ahead, keep reading

This is just wrong

I like to take myself on mini-adventures. One of my ideas of fun is to hop on my motorcycle and head out into the suburbs to enjoy a movie in a small non-megaplex theater, preferably a single screen, but that's really hard to find these days. Yeah, it's just seeing a movie by myself, but I get to venture out and make a fun production out of it.…Go ahead, keep reading

I've wanted to do this for quite some time

The first stop was at the ATM. I cleared out the account, I'm afraid. $0.65 left for me to spend recklessly, plus the eighty in cash that's not in the account any more. Well, I get paid on Monday or Tuesday, so I'll be fine. It just seems like living on the edge.

The second stop was to fuel up. I love my gas card these days. Especially with a two-and-a-half gallon tank I hate having to hand over six bucks and then walk back to the window for change. Paying at the pump makes it go so much faster.…Go ahead, keep reading

World's Best Taco Bell

I went riding South yesterday, just a short jaunt, but I went past Pacifica and through Devil's Slide. I knew I had to get back to meet a friend with whom I had lunch plans, but I really knew I had to get back when it started to look like rain. I did get rained on, just a little, but made it back to SF and indoors in time to watch the rain really come down for about 15 minutes of downpour I'm glad I wasn't out in.…Go ahead, keep reading

Cruising California Bizarro

I'm writing from the dining room of one of California's great curiosities, destined to amaze and befuddle even the most jaded of observers. Today I'm lunching at the worlds most beautiful Taco Bell.

Yes, that may sound like damning with faint praise, as though I'd said the world's most honest politician or tallest midget, but indeed this is exactly such a curiosity.…Go ahead, keep reading

As Splicer continues to hemhorrage money

Rode my new motorcycle even farther today... all the way to Daly City. I actually toyed with the idea of going all the way to Pacifica, but the way I know to get there involves a real highway portion of Route 1, and I'm not quite comfortable enough on the bike (having ridden on the streets less than two days) for the freeway. Route 35 was scary enough because the wind was pretty high. Getting pushed around by crosswinds at 55mph is... well, I can see why people choose to own bigger, heavier bikes.…Go ahead, keep reading

Goin' for a putt

Paying attention to photography

This morning I went looking through the SFGate's collection of Chronicle photography. First I got pretty annoyed at Fred Larson's Moon Photo Collection because (in my own opinion) he's caught some great subject matter and put obvious time and dedication into getting the shots, and then fallen back to some really static and downright annoying composition.

However, then I came across a great photo he did of the reflection of the Golden Gate Bridge in a raindrop, and that redeemed his whole body of work for me.…Go ahead, keep reading

Am I just a Negative Nancy?

My boss just bought a Segway. One of my co-workers' boyfriend is a Segway salesman, and we're talking about having guided Segway-based tours of the Fisherman's Wharf area. I'm hearing a lot about Segways lately, and this morning they convinced me to come out and ride one.…Go ahead, keep reading
