I need to be less geeky or else more geeky
OK, it’s not like I don’t know how to program my VCR or whatever, but I have to learn to start recording Star Trek and watching it at a civilized time. It used to be on at 11:00, and then they moved it to midnight, which means getting to bed no earlier than 1am. Now it doesn’t start until 12:30 and sometimes I think it would be nice to get to bed earlier and wake up early.
The problem is that I don’t actually have a VCR, or a real TV for that matter. I watch whatever TV shows I watch on my computer, which has a TV tuner card in it. At some point I realized that I have a computer with a 20″ monitor and a DVD-ROM drive and so I gave away my 12″ TV and the VCR.
So the actual problem part: in order to record shows to my hard drive, I have to use this software that doesn’t understand the concept of being a background process. When it comes on to record a show, it plays the show at the same time. If my speakers are on, that means I have to listen to whatever is on. I can hit mute, but that mutes the whole “Wave/DirectSound” channel which means no more leaving MP3s to play as I drift off to sleep. This affects other shows I might want recorded too, because almost every time I’ve set a show to record I’ve forgotten to mute on the day and come home to a blaring TV show on my computer.
Oh well. If I’d just do things the way everyone else does I wouldn’t have these troubles. sigh
I’ve got a little TV/VCR
I’ve got a little TV/VCR combo that’s just sitting in my storage space that I can loan you indefinitely, if you’d like.

Oh, um, could I borrow that
Oh, um, could I borrow that tv/vcr combo? Just for a week? Just for next week?

I need it in the galleries
I need it in the galleries for next week. We can take it back on Friday. It’s to show a video that was accepted into the juried show.
