Back real soon, I promise

So I have DSL, I have my block of sta­t­ic IP address­es, and I have the serv­er set up. Now if I could just find the pow­er sup­ply for the net­work hub, I’d have email again.

I do have a ser­i­al con­nec­tion to the serv­er, so I’ve been able to read some of the emails folks sent to me before the whole damn thing col­lapsed. I will reply, real­ly. Give me a lit­tle time to get all this set back up. I’ve gone through a bunch of box­es and I just need that one damn wallwart.

    I used to run my email and web sites from home, but I seemed to invite bad luck with broad­band com­pa­nies, umm, going out of busi­ness. First Telocity/Northpoint, then AT&T@Home. And of course there’s also the threat of moving.

    These days I rec­om­mend VDS providers such as Lin­ode. I have one and use it for email, host­ing my web sites, and a nice sta­ble place to IRC from.

    If you sign up, men­tion my name, cause they give me ice cream or some­thing. Maybe.
