Running, (Swimming?) Biking
Results are in from my recent run in the SFDSE Runners Potrero Hill Run. Turns out I came in 34th overall at 36:10 (not 36:20… I went back to look at the clock afterward and just took the time down).
I know it takes work and commitment, but I’m so close in all these events to being in the top 50% that I find myself asking, “why can’t I get up there?” In this case, the top half would have meant running 1:15 faster, or 8:40 miles instead of 9:03. This seems like it’s not so far off.
Today was a day of rest, and my legs are still hurting though. Don’t know yet whether I’ll take two days of rest or whether I’ll run tomorrow. Or maybe I’ll do something other than running tomorrow. Swimming doesn’t kill my legs the same way.
I went to see the Giro di San Francisco today. It was a lot of fun to see the racers out doing their thing. It made me want to get on the bike, but it also made me want to be in good enough shape to race. I didn’t just want to ride, I wanted to speed. So maybe that’s what I should do in the morning, instead of running.

It’s one of the California Cup criterium events. There were Cat 3, Cat 4, Masters, and Elite events, with lots of fast 90 degree cornering. Very fun to watch!
