Progress in the war against clutter

The boxes are losing and the piles are winning.

I broke down a couple more boxes. Most of these are going right to recycling, as they’ve been in enough moves that I don’t think they’ll survive another. There’s also the issue of space and I don’t really have any place to store cardboard, even folded up. That’s kind of scary.

But with the help of The Container Store and Elfa stuff, I’ve now got most of my CDs stored under my bed and more stuff in my closet than I thought possible. I’m considering tearing down some of the existing shelving and putting up new shelves… especially on one of the walls where the braces weren’t screwed in to the studs and I really don’t trust the shelves to carry any load.

Unfortunately the more boxes get emptied, the more miscellaneous crap I have in piles that I’ll have to deal with at some point. But it’s an ongoing process and I’ve made some damn good headway on finally being “moved in”.

I don’t think I’m in danger of nearing “faux zen simplicity” anytime this decade, but I wouldn’t mind approaching semi-orderly.
