Next goal: Half Marathon
I’ve been looking for a new goal, a new mark to hit. I think I’ve found it:
The US Half Marathon, San Francisco. It’s in a little under a month, so I have to stay focused. I’m stating the goal right now: to complete the half-marathon in under two hours.
The longest distance I’ve ever run before is 10.5 miles, so a half-marathon at 13.1 is a bit of a stretch, but it’s not overly ambitious. I’m fully confident that I can finish a half-marathon. What will be challenging is maintaining a pace for that distance. To complete at 9 min/mile will be quite the achievement. I’ll have to work both on speed and endurance over the next month.
Anyone that’s in the Bay Area on October 17th that would like to come cheer me on, mark it in your calendar. Also PLEASE RUN WITH ME. Not the half-marathon, I mean between then and now. Of course, anyone that wants to meet up there and run the event too would be cool. I’d appreciate any support toward this goal.
Best of luck in that half
Best of luck in that half marathon!
BTW, I love your moon image. (I grabbed a copy.) I was up at Stellafane last Saturday night at a star party and was reminded that we have a similar sequence of photos on one of the overhead beams there. I’d like to make a still image showing the whole face of the moon with each piece seen at the terminator. Sounds like a serious Photoshop job to do it right. And it would probably take a bunch of nights to get the right photos, too.

Yeah, it might take almost a whole month to get that sequence! More if clouds intervened.
