Yep

I picked a new route this morning, and measured it with the help of Yahoo Maps, so I hope they have accurate distances. According to them if I run up Twin Peaks and back down from my apartment it’s 3.1 miles.

IF, on the other hand, I run back down the other side of Twin Peaks and down Market Street, it looks like an even five miles. And that’s what I did. 5.0 miles in 51Read the rest

Another personal best!

10.5 miles in 1:38:33. That’s a 9:23 pace for my longest-ever-yet run.

I started out with my regular 4.4 miles out to the start of Chrissy Field and back, and added a jaunt to the end of the municipal pier. Then I was feeling pretty good so I decided to see how far down the Embarcadero I could go to add a little more distance. Bing the big dumb … Read the rest

Maybe I’ll catch that darned cable car NEXT year!

I got out there for the Cable Car Chase after basically neglecting my training for a month. I don’t really recommend taking a month off, but I learned something about overtraining, I think. I’ve done some swimming and gone to one run training session in the last month, and I’ve been to the gym a couple of times, but basically have not run at all since I did Run Hit Wonder last month.

I was going to be very pleased to Read the rest

Cable Car Chase TODAY!

Cable Car Chase is TODAY! I have to be there at 6:30 to pick up my race number because I didn’t get it yesterday or the day before. So here I am at 6am. The sun hasn’t come up and I’m putting on sunblock. LOL.

5.67 miles, but with some fairly steep hill work. Yay for San Francisco! I’ll be very happy if I finish in under an hour, but that’s a … Read the rest

Republicratarian

“You’re a damn Commie!  Where’s Tailgunner Joe when we need him?”

Are You A Republican?

I wish I knew what it means. Am I a ‑1 Republican on a score of 1 to 10? or ‑1 to +1? Or ‑10 to +10? I was kind of guessing that I was more like sqrt(-1) Republican, but, well, whatever.

Where do you fall on the liberal — conservative political spectrum? (United States)

brought to you by Quizilla

Just remember that by San Francisco-Berkeley standards, I’m a right-wing fascist. OK, maybe just a moderate fascist. But certainly far enough to the right of center in SF politics to generally avoid telling any of my close friends who I vote for.… Read the rest

Drama!

One housemate took a mattress from the garage that belongs to the landlord. Now the landlord says no bicycles in the garage. Or boxes, or anything. Great.

Housemate claims that the other housemates said it was OK and is defensive, claiming landlord is trying to create drama to have control. Hello? Justifying a wrong action with the overreaction?

I really really don’t like my bikes being outside. It’s not a good way to store bicycles.

The landlord is also saying … Read the rest

Who are the people in your neighborhood?

I’m continually amazed at how living in my neighborhood is actually living in a neighborhood. This is what urban living is supposed to be. I’ve lived in several neighborhoods here in San Francisco, and it’s only since my latest move that I’ve stumbled upon this non-separate experience of living somewhere.

What I mean by that is that it simply does not fail. I cannot walk down Market Street between Castro and Church without encountering someone I know.

The only annoyance is … Read the rest
