Dreaming is free…

Got some cheap entertainment last night. In my dream, I went to a party thrown by Mister Bad and Majnoona. I didn’t know anyone at the party and I spent the time there resentful and jealous as I examined the floors and rooms of their new home (a place that to my knowledge exists only in this dream).

I don’t recall leaving the party, but I soon arrived to visit my father. He had a nice parcel of land on the … Read the rest

Audio Ecstasy

For years I went through headphones the way that some people go through sunglasses or ballpoint pens: I’d get the cheapest earbuds I could find and use them until they fell apart. And they worked fine for me until one day with money burning a hole in my pocket I decided to spend fifty bucks on a pair of Sony MDR-V300 headphones. Fifty bucks is not all that much to spend on headphones; I can hear the audiophiles in … Read the rest

Big shout out to the whiny bitches of the left wing

Yeah, I mean all the ones who were saying the sky was gonna fall if that fascist motherfucker Gavin Newsom were elected mayor of San Francisco.

Well, I hope he’s done a good enough job of proving himself to be just another stooge of the Republicans. Right on, man.

I honestly don’t believe Gonzales would have had the balls. I liked Gonzales a lot, but I don’t think he could have pulled it off.

Seriously, I’m so filled with civic pride, I … Read the rest

Well, that was fun. Yay.

I think it’s true. Every time I have some sort of expectation that something will be good, it’s bound to disappoint. This formula was put to the test today when I got pushed out of an airplane at 18,000 feet.

Yeah, nice ride and all. But after all the build-up, come on. Better than sex? Get real. It changes your life? Um. Well, so does a cup of coffee. You leave all your fears behind? Not hardly.

First … Read the rest

Pardon our dust

My computer has been down for the last few days. This stuff used to scare me when I had to make my living with this thing, but I still missed being online, playing music, and watching TV and movies. Without my computer I have only books. Oh, and the gym.

I read recently about a guy who dropped off the grid, bailed from the online world. Part of me really envies that.

In other news, although I already bored xris with … Read the rest

Q&A from rustymetal770

1.) Do you believe in the supernatural, and if so, do you follow any particular religion? How have your beliefs changed over the years?

I do not believe in the possibility of the supernatural. I believe that there are things that are beyond my understanding, but I don’t for a moment doubt that they are a part of the natural order of the Universe. There is more under Heaven and Earth than lies within my philosophy, Horatio, but being outside … Read the rest

This year’s goal

I’ve already committed to myself to get myself ready for the 2005 Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon, and started training for that, but one thing stands out as problematic: I don’t know if I’ll be able to get in to the 2005 Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon. I was not selected in the 2004 lottery, and apparently about 3000 people are turned away every year. hammerhead got lucky this year and was selected in the lottery, but I was not and there’s … Read the rest

Rachel’s Appearance on Mural Restored

I’m happy to report that Rachel Corrie’s image on the mural on the front of the Latino Newspaper offices at 23rd and Mission has been restored. Some vandal had kicked a hole in the image of her face, and the hole remained unrepaired for several months. Last night I was in the neighborhood and saw that not only has the hole been repaired, but Rachel’s image has been repainted in its original place next to the image of Ché … Read the rest

Stood up again

Last Friday I had an appointment with my trainer at 6 a.m. I got to the gym at around 5:15 a.m. and stretched out and did a quick run on the treadmill while I waited for him.

When he hadn’t appeared by twenty minutes after six, I asked to have him called at home. There he was, sleeping in. He’s been late before, and he gave me a free session for being ten minutes late recently.

So he apologized … Read the rest
