Broke again

Remember all that money? It’s all gone now.

Well, no, it’s not really all gone, but I deposited the check and won’t have access to it ’til sometime next week. So I’m living on the $100 that the bank gives me access to after an ATM deposit. And that $100 is almost gone now. I’ve done some nice things with it though:

1) Treated myself to Thai food, which was tasty and the waitress flirted with me a … Read the rest

Not broke

Damn. Now I wish I had a date this weekend.

I got an unexpected paycheck today, so I could really go out in style.

Or y’know, put some toward my rent or something. I guess that would be smarter.

It’s kinda weird what a fucking amazing rush it is to have a couple thousand bucks in my pocket. I am SUCH a money addict. I think part of the reason that I stay poor is because I scare myself when I … Read the rest

Broke

One nice thing about not having a date this weekend is that I don’t have to worry about how to pay for it. I don’t get my first paycheck for my new job for two more weeks, and an old client that I billed sent me a check for the number of hours I worked rather than the number of hours times the hourly rate.

My gym membership is all paid up though, so if I’m lucky maybe I’ll just … Read the rest

Mmm, rice

There are 23 working days in October. Eleven have passed, and twelve remain. That means that tomorrow is “hump day” for the month. Of course, I have just two more days in the office and then I get two entire days off. it’s this strange thing called a “weekend” that was entirely meaningless to me as a consultant, but now has become a precious little window to freedom.

Also, here’s a news flash: the winner of the Mister Unreliable contest … Read the rest

I asked a woman out today

I asked D. to the movies. Yes, D. from the “hand on my thigh” post. She said the coolest thing. Well, no, not the coolest thing. The coolest thing would have been “yes.”

So um, yeah. She said the other thing. The two letter word whose second letter is “o” and whose second-to-last letter is “n”.

But I really appreciate it. I’ve been in situations where I’d discovered a couple months into a relationship that the only thing that made … Read the rest

Phunaphobia

I have never done the Electric Slide sober. I am not about to start now, either.

I came to this sober dance in the best of spirits. I showed up with a very lovely young woman who looks drop-dead stunning, I had a great day that included hanging out with a relatively new friend who is becoming a good friend. The dance is to celebrate the 41st anniversary of AA in San Mateo and the meeting before the dance … Read the rest

Clothing

Times like this
Great Heaven knows
We wish we had
Not so many clothes

I have too many clothes, and still not enough to wear.

I’m doing laundry this morning, and it’s been two weeks since my last trip to the laundromat. I’ve gone longer than that before, but it wasn’t pretty. This time I had to get pretty creative too.

I’d like to get rid of all the stuff that I have that doesn’t fit or that I don’t need. for that I need … Read the rest
