Anyone wanna live with me?

My housemate is throwing a temper tantrum and threatening not to move in. Swell. This is at the very eleventh hour, and puts Arpine and I in a pretty awkward position. He doesn’t like that Arpine didn’t tell him to just take over the entire apartment with his stuff. He said to her, “I’ve already had a mother, and I’m in therapy about that. I don’t need another one.”

Yeah, the rest of us have had drama queens before. get over … Read the rest

It’s my place!

I have keys and I have a phone. Now all I have to do is get ME and MY STUFF over across town and I’ll be all set.

Why haven’t my belongings just magically jumped into their boxes? Hey, get with it! I don’t want to be doing this at the last minute!

Maybe this is just a part of renting a nice place, but I’ve never lived in a place in SF with so much responsibility put on the renter. … Read the rest

Happy Independence Day

Three blocks away in one direction a neighbor’s house is burning down.

Three blocks away in the other direction some other neighbors are shooting off huge fireworks. Hundreds of feet into the air. The sorts of fireworks that might make a July 4th exhibit in a really small town.

Someone’s hopes and dreams burned up today. I can’t even express how sad that is, but at the very least it doesn’t look as though anyone was hurt. I hope I’m right … Read the rest

Up Twin Peaks: 49:05

Down Twin Peaks: 40:08

Total: 7.9 miles in 1:29:13. About 5 minutes faster than the first time.

This may seem corny, but my yellow LIVESTRONG band was the best dollar I’ve spent in a while. I mean, cancer research is good and all that, but looking down and seeing those words right there was a great motivator. It’s someone else’s motto, sure, but for a … Read the rest

MoYay! (Moving yay!)

So check this: my deposit is paid and so is my rent for July. I can move in as early as the 5th, except I won’t even try moving until next weekend. Still have a lot of packing to do, and a whole lot of logistics. I’ll probably bring some personal items over through the week, but I’m not going to try to really move anything until Saturday.

According to rumor, the landlord build a closet in the … Read the rest

I hate it when people post song lyrics in their journals, but I’m a big hypocrite, so there.

I’ve been crying
for forty-eight days
wastin the summer away
fever begin as I stick to my bed
100 degrees of you in my head
but I’m still smiling
through my maybelline
I’m still tracin’
the pictures that I see
all look something like this:
something beautiful
exists
just out of sight
THE FUTURE WILL BLOW YOUR MIND (x2)
My prediction of you and I
The future will will blow your mind
Feel the moment of weakness
for beautiful broken
the oceans will speak
my world will

Cross-training

Rode my bike into the office today. Even with traffic and not pushing particularly hard, I averaged 16mph on a mostly-flat route. That’s pretty good for me, especially not pushing hard. I used to be able to average 19mph on a flat course, but that was pushing as hard as I could and, you know, back in the day. And where do you find a flat course, anyway?

So I think all this running is making me a … Read the rest

The future will blow my mind

So yeah, this is the best song lyric to be stuck in my head for a long damn time. So full of optimism and promise. Yes, what lies ahead is unpredictable, but maybe what’s about to explode all over us is good beyond what we know. In fact, just for a moment, I’m CONVINCED that I have no idea what great things are waiting for me. Why? Because

The Future Will Blow My Mind.

But the future will not … Read the rest

Simon Stinger

Splicer’s groovy-band-of-the-moment: Simon Stinger. Thankfully their upbeat, fun and sexy vibe is taking over the space in my brain previously occupied by creepy deathpop idols H.I.M.

“French Connection” is about as sexy as pop music gets. Highly recommended and catchy.

Doh! And they played the main stage at Pride on Saturday and I was too busy doing nothing at all. I’m a big dumb hetero. If only I’d known they were playing.…

runrunrunrunrunrunrun

5.6 miles this morning, in 57:44. I kept my heart rate down below 165 for most of the run, although through the last mile it was harder to keep up a comfortable pace and so for the final seven-tenths of a mile I was up closer to 175. I think thanks to my hard run yesterday I just didn’t have as much in my legs today.

I’m trying pretty desperately to hit my goal for … Read the rest
